Important Information for your Stay...
A Note on Island Living
Salt Spring Island moves at a different pace than the city, and part of its charm lies in its small scale and limited resources. Selection, services, and availability can vary, and many things require a bit of advance planning. Collins House is designed as a calm, comfortable retreat rather than a full-service hotel, and we appreciate guests who enjoy simplicity, care for their surroundings, and respect the property as both a place to stay and a home.
House Care and Courtesy
We take pride in keeping Collins House clean, comfortable, and welcoming. We ask guests to treat the space with the same care they would their own home. Please remove shoes indoors, be mindful of furnishings and linens, and help us maintain a quiet, restful atmosphere for all guests.
Suites are prepared with fresh linens, towels, and essential amenities for your stay. If you require anything additional, please let us know.
Garbage and Recycling
Island waste management is limited, and everything that comes to the island must eventually leave it. We ask guests to be mindful of what they bring and to sort waste responsibly. Recycling must be clean and rinsed. Items that are not rinsed should be placed in the garbage, as they can attract wildlife. Your cooperation helps protect the island environment.
Water Use
Fresh water is a precious resource on Salt Spring Island. We ask guests to use water thoughtfully, particularly during drier months. Drinking water is provided, and there is no need to bring bottled water. Refillable bottles are encouraged.
Connectivity
Wi-Fi is available at Collins House, and mobile reception is generally reliable across major networks.
Weather and What to Pack
Island weather can change quickly, particularly near the water. Mornings and evenings are often cooler, and conditions can shift throughout the day. We recommend dressing in layers and bringing comfortable footwear suitable for outdoor paths. In spring and fall, rain gear is advised.
Parking and Access
On-site parking is available for registered guests. Please follow signage and directions provided upon arrival. If you have questions about access, loading, or parking arrangements, contact us in advance.
Community and Local Services
Salt Spring Island offers a wonderful selection of local shops, markets, galleries, and food options, though hours and availability may vary by season. We encourage guests to plan ahead for groceries, dining, and ferry travel. We are always happy to share recommendations or answer questions about the island.
Quiet Enjoyment
Collins House is intended as a peaceful place to rest and recharge. We appreciate your consideration of other guests, particularly during evening and early morning hours.
